With the increasing popularity of the short form of communication; Twitter, Vine, Snapchat etc it seems appropriate to mention Giffs. They’ve always been a fav of mine. Words are great for literal definitions but GIFS provide a fast and easy way to get the message across.

They’re big in the art world too now. It’s like Pop Art on steroids, graphic designers and artists are finding the crossover of animation and cultural referencing is too golden to pass up.

I remember a similar sharp swing towards brevity in the 80s/90s when ‘long copy’ print ads were replaced by posters style print ads, even without the web people didn’t have time to read long copy anymore. This then worked well for me because I found I could write ads too, but it still often takes time. Because as Churchill once said ‘if I had more time I would have written a shorter letter.
